It would have been mightily unfair for Australia to fail to take the Ashes home, as they’ve been the better team from what I’ve seen.
Word of advice to Sky. Have all women commentary teams for these games. Isa, Clare and Mel were very interesting to listen to, with an intimate knowledge of the women’s game. Paul Allott came blundering on with his views on whether the women should play four day cricket. If I’d be enmeshed in the women’s game for donkey’s years like Isa, Clare and Mel, I’d have been a lot less polite than Clare was.
Him and Selvey see a couple of games and think they can lay down the law. I’ll say this. Fair play to Paul Newman, who was on that CWOTV, who said he disagreed with that on Twitter as soon as Allott opened his trap.
I notice he didn’t mention shorter pitches…..

Allott seemed to be on some sort of ‘just because they’re women doesn’t mean I’m going to be kind when they lose’ trip. It wasn’t edifying.
