It seems topical after the posts on the TV business. Where I say blogs should be free to provide content and spread the word. Where I plead for the widening of the customer experience, not short-sighted profiteering.
Well you may or may not like Dennis Does Cricket. But this is a chill wind….
F*ck this sport. Just f*ck them. They don’t deserve us.
Note – this came a day or so after this…
UPDATE – Site is back up. We will await Dennis’s take on things.
Fuck um. That’s it, Iam finished with this rotten sport, rotten to the core.
And never forget, this is the Giles Clarke model. The Selvey model. Fuck um. This is the stupitist bunch of people on the planet. And that is saying something.
The BCCI is an idiot organisation, and it is deeply embarrasing so many in English cricket have been carrying water for them. (I’m looking at you Selvey, And Clarke) you sold out cricket to these clowns and wannabe Stalinists. All for your fifty pieces of silver. Idiots and moral bankrupts.
You are not worth my time or my money any more. Cricket is the most corrupt and dishonest sport in the world. And it has no sense of humour. Adios.

Dennis is reigning back a bit but AltCricket weren’t.
I think, in our own way, we’ve jacked it in with authority, Mark.

Bloody hell, this is scary. What price freedom of expresion, eh? Hope the ECB don’t decide to try the same trick because this is definitely not cricket.

Well, bugger me! The old pot’s boiling again I see. I suppose we should be grateful to the ECB for that meaningful, long awaited, and in depth interview they have sanctioned for Flower, with a leading cutting edge cricket columnist?
Yet more, not entirely unexpected, skullduggery from the BCCI, probably coupled with some furious note taking by Giles Clarke for a further assault on the outsiders?
The Summer has barely begun, and just when we thought we were in the doldrums all these jolly japes come along! Bloody marvellous!! They’re not worth boiling your piss over Mark. I think it’s more entertaining than the cricket. These arseholes are so far up themselves it will all self implode. Corporateism gone mad I tell ee!!
In the meantime, me and the dog will have a wander up my local cricket club, shove a few sheep out the way so we can get a seat, sit in the Sun, with beer in hand, and contemplate where it all went wrong!!

Their attempts to shut down dissent at least shows that it does bother them…..
Unclutching the straws, the Guardian has two new pieces up. Vic Marks claims England are “unusually stable” and then goes to point out Nos. 2, 3 and 5 in the batting order are uncertain. There is also a sighting of “zealot” in the second paragraph. No comments are allowed to shatter his picture that everything is just fine and dandy in the England garden.
Emma John (not normally my cup of tea) has a better piece questioning one of the game’s insufferable myths – that it produces uniquely fine writing. The cosy, self-satisfied smugness of that meme deserved a good kicking even before the current discontents exposed its bankruptcy. John has to put a line in that, of course, she doesn’t mean anyone at her splendid outlet.

Something like ” now only the odd zealot is calling for Cook to be stripped of the captaincy”, wasn’t it?
Who? I have seen zero people calling for that. Partly because we all know it’s never going to happen.
I was, at first glance, angry on behalf of Clive, as it seemed a sarky name-check for him. However, Clive is not a zealot, nor is he blind. On reflection, I’m angry on behalf of all of us because Vic Marks is essentially mis-representing and over-simplifying a much wider position of ECB-annoyance through lazy, vague … lies, really.
It’s a position not limited to these pages. Even the beer-and-in-jokes whimsy of my usual haunt – the county blog – is well-inhabited by people who should be offended by Vic’s comment.
I may even have to break a taboo and bring it up over there later on.

We live in a world where holding an opinion contrary to the “accepted norm” is seen as zealotry.
No wonder we are going to hell in a handcart. I find the zealots, if we wish to apply such a name, are those that go out of their way to point the contrary view out, and attack them. But that would be a view of this zealot, and who cares?

It’s also worth remembering George Dobell’s claim (from Switch Hit a few weeks back) that Root will be England captain before the end of the year. I’ve not noticed anyone else pick up on this and the one time he was asked about it he wouldn’t explain further.
Is George one of those zealots?

May I be honest with you, Simon?
In terms of precision, clarity, accuracy, elegance, and word economy, that really has to be one of the finest and best-constructed sentences I have ever read,

I’m stunned. I wrote a piece, working title ‘cricket with the nazis’ and thought I’d gone a bit far. Clearly not.
Erm… Thanks to those who have visited sgt cookie, I hope you’ve enjoyed it, sorry if it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, I’m just finding my feet with this blog business and have the utmost respect for this and other proper sites. Please continue to be a beacon of light in the ever growing murkiness of the cricket world. I’m just off to ball my eyes out….
