Just some of the over 100 pictures I took on that day. I can’t describe being there. I’ll have a go in a written post some time soon. Coming just 20 days after my mum’s passing, to have such a great day to take my mind off much of what was going on in my life was beyond my expectations. A spell-binding day’s cricket.

Will there be a huddle before the first Ashes test? It has been abandoned by the ODI team and Lovejoy was very quick to notice and then make fun at what is actually said during a huddle. I must admit that Lovejoy was correct in what he said. ” It’s just cliches” and he didn’t need to hear them to perform or to know what was expected.

One of the most memorable days cricket I have attended. Animal roars from the crowd when Aus wickets fell (and that in the posh end); McGrath reeling England back in; KP attacking Warne (or was that day2?). And always in the background, the sense that the city was buzzing with danger so soon after the terror attacks.
Love your pictures. Excites me just thinking about it again.

Got married on the Saturday of that test. Wife’s uncle and cousin had tickets for the day at Lords. They came to our wedding instead, I told them they were crazy to do that and should have gone to the cricket. Watching that first day ON TV was incredible, still get goose bumps when I watch it on DVD, how I wish I could have been there.

I got my turn, however, as our honeymoon could only be 7 nights due to me having tickets for edgbaston on the Saturday! Now that was a day I will never forget. 17 wickets, Flintoff’s batting and Harmys slower ball, complete delirium! 😀

Love that picture of Dizzy. He looks like some young wizard hurling the magic sphere into the teeth of the evil winds of – I dunno, you get the idea.
