There is going to be a fundamental change to the blog in the next day or so.
Yes, this is the Dmitri Old persona back on the blog. Makes it easier to blog from more platforms by doing it, but that’s not the change – it was a test to see how invitations work.
As soon as he sets up a WordPress ID, I will be sharing some of the duties on here with Vian. This is still “my blog” but I do need some help with posts and comments, and Vian has kindly offered to help me out as my workload rises and availability in the next few weeks in particular is seriously limited. I am off on holiday from the middle of the week after next for a fair old while with internet connection not totally guaranteed, so want this to continue!
I’d like to thank Vian for his assistance, and hope you lot don’t mind that the blog will go in a slightly different admin direction!
Cheers.
Looking forward to whatever happens : )

I always think of you as Dmitri Old. And so does Wisden 🙂
Good to hear that you’re taking a holiday! Will be interesting to see the Vian input – so it’ll be kind of The Dmitri and Boris Show?

No problem!
I think it is very sensible to have someone else who can act as bat stop for you when work or holiday keeps you away. It’s not as if you do this for a living.

Good news. More security for everyone. Thanks Vian.

You’ve put in the hard yards, stepped up to the plate, taken the positives from the good places, now you can plan for 2019… cheers Dmitri 😉

Sounds sensible to me. Everything evolves. Just keep the blog going forever please. Welcome to your new responsibility Vian. Will you be the new MD?
Just a thought to lighten the load. I don’t believe Century Watch needs comments.
Have a great holiday Dmitri

Enjoy your holiday Dmitri. I am relieved that the blog continues….you had me worried for a while. I don’t follow “antisocial media” and rely and enjoy TFT and your blog for informed intelligent and objective discussion of our game. A very sensible move to involve another person in the running of the blog, and Vian is a great choice. Best wishes for the success of your project.

Morning chaps. Since the Vian username and pretty much every variation on it has been taken, I’ve used this one.
I’ll try and post a Test preview this evening. Be nice to me…

You have managed to create a little community here, so you deserve a little while to relax and recharge as well as a helping hand to maintain the positive aspect of the blog (namely good articles and insight).
We also need to help & to remember that our role is important and not to abuse the position that you provide to us. It’s you who gets called out by the MSM for hosting a ‘rabble’ like us, so we shouldn’t make things more difficult for you!
keep up the good work

One thing I’ve seen on other blogs (that have alot of commenters who are twiddling their thumbs when you don’t post something new), is to bung an open topic at the top where people can share thoughts, links etc – inbetween game days when you might not have as much to say, as such…
on a slightly different note, found this link on TFT that some of you may like;

Not a site I’ve seen before but quite interesting read.

I don’t usually comment here, but I feel I have to say this:
Thepoetseye’s “real” identity should never have been outed here. It smacks of cyber-bullying and is a needless invasion of his/her privacy.
Also, there is too much sniping at other commentators from the Guardian: WCTT, Duc and so on, but this is not a moderation issue. Just a comment on the atmosphere here.
Although I disagree with everything WCTT says, there is no doubt the man loves cricket and is a great supporter of county cricket. People like that deserve better than entire posts devoted to ridiculing them.

I am the person who ‘outed’ Thepoetseye/Jackiel/jackiethepen and I did it for a very good reason which can still be seen on the relevant article.
So don’t go around blaming Dmitri or this blog. If you have a problem with what I did, take issue with me.

And a blazer. He must have a blazer. And did he go to the right kind of school?

Ha ha ha! Does Vian have the right accent? Has he been to public school? Did Vian attend Oxbridge? Nothing less will do. Ha ha ha!

If he didn’t, I went to Oxford and my wife and children are exactly the sort you’d want and expect. (i.e. my wife has absolutely no interest in cricket at all and thinks that me nipping off to post on cricket websites is one of my most annoying habits)

Er. I went to a grammar school, speak with an East Kent accent, and my family are northern.
Oh dear.
