Being Outside Cricket 
I got up about half five to watch this. Bangladesh were on top then with India struggling to reach 4 an over. However the Banglas took their eye off the ball both with their bowling choices and with their fielding. They did get unlucky with the nigh-on waist high full toss that Rohit was caught in the deep off (called no-ball rather fortuitously) but by then India were really starting to motor. That said Banglas look a far better team than I can ever recall them being and I’ve really hated the fact that they’ve been so bad over so long a period.

Sarkar and Mahmudullah both gone to short balls and excellent catches (by Dhawan and Dhoni).
Nasser making the point that India use the short ball as a surprise weapon. When Jordan got Sarkar with a short ball 21 of the next 22 balls were short.

119 for 5 now. Turning into yet another one sided match. We haven’t had many close ones in this World Cup. Australia vs New Zealand. Ireland vs Zimbabwe England vs Bangladesh.
Can’t see Australia vs Pakistan being close either, unless Pakistan can bowl Australia out for a low score.

TV stat just shown that India have the best ER in the middle overs.
Comms put this down to the spinners. Ashwin – fair enough, he has bowled superbly again. Then another comm (Mark Waugh possibly – he has been awful and it is dumb enough to be him) puts it down to India rushing through their overs. Is there anything in cricket more overrated than ‘rushing through your overs’? If you’re bowling pies, they’re pies however quickly you’re bowling them.
One reason India have such good middle over ERs is the number of wickets they’ve taken early on. Teams have not had wickets in hand to launch a blitz. Shami did it again today this time with support from Yadav.

Yes , if the ball keeps disappearing over the fence you can’t rush through your overs. It stands to reason that maidens will be bowled quicker than overs going for plenty. A case of Chicken an egg me thinks. Which came first?

All over and India won comfortably. So the two teams that knocked out England lose their QFs and it isn’t even close.
Will that stop Selvey and Newman with their ‘if only we’d got to the QF’ nonsense? Will they ever understand ‘three consecutive wins’ means diddly if they consist of a dead rubber then two meaningless warm-ups? Will they heck….
