Another Dmitri’s Ashes Memory – Days 2 & 3 at The Oval 2005

Again, another photo montage of two rain affected days in the crucial test in 2005. I will go into Day 1 more in the future, but here’s a taster of some of the pictures I took from those two days.

I love the sign put onto the gas holder. “Go England” with a relatively unnoticed corporate logo. 10 years on, and the two elements would be reversed. In fact England probably wouldn’t get a mention (much less the sport of cricket).

This was the culmination of a crazy summer! Married during the lords test, honeymoon shorter to go to the edgbaston test and at a funeral for my wife and her brothers best friend on the 5th day at the oval. It was an interesting time in my life!

Once the funeral was finished and we were at the wake, news of the cricket result filtered through and certainly enhanced the celebration of the life lost. I don’t mean that disrespectfully, but the cricket had been infectious and the lad who had passed and his family were massive sports fans and wanted to know the result. Bittersweet. No other way to describe it!

Great pics Dmitri, really crisp and nice quality. Love the S Jones one from Lords on the earlier post.
