Just put up on Twitter that five lucky people (or unlucky) have just had the first set of questions e-mailed to them. Don’t worry if you’ve volunteered and you haven’t got some, because you will be next (or the one after) and all will get at least one set before the series starts. That’s the aim.
If you want to be on it (and I’m going to volunteer a few of you if you don’t) then drop me a line on dmitriold@hotmail.co.uk – I’ll need your e-mail address.
This might work, and I seem to think it will, or it might die a death, but we try here on Being Outside Cricket!
Also added a number of new random header shots, all from Ashes tests, all pictures taken by me. You’ll recognise one instantly if you were a reader of HDWLIA.
You can volunteer me Dmitri. Feel free to use the email address that you have. If you need me to send an email to you, just let me know. At first I feared that I might have to miss all of the action, due to being in Kenya. But that is not the case.

Completely unrelated, but the rules for ODIs are changing, yet again.
Most notable: doing away with batting powerplay. Relaxing the fielding conditions in the first 10 overs. Allowing 5 catchers outside of the circle in the last 10 overs (was 4). Free hits for all no-balls. Not just front-foot offenses (personally, I’d only allow free hits for beamers).
This of course will mean that the England series against New Zealand was effectively a demonstration on how they should have played in the World Cup. These rule changes will lead to significantly different tactics, and thus it would be foolish to expect similar successes with tactics that will simply be “too attacking” under these rules.

Dmitri, this is great stuff! Really enjoying all of the updates.
Dennis Does Cricket q&a from you and vice versa, great idea, more of this from other suitable types would be great.
Your ashes memories, again great stuff. Really enjoyable reads and clear to anyone, whether they are inside or outside cricket, that you are a true supporter. Would be interested to read similar from TLG.
Would be interesting if you did a round the table discussion with 4 of you (you, TLG and 2 others). The record it like the papers do, you know TLG says – …………… LCL responds – …………. And so on; discussing key ashes topics.
Anyway really enjoying all of this, keep it up!

Agree. Intelligent interactions between fans is great and adds to the game. I enjoy the editorial from Dmitri here, it can only be enhanced by interactions with other genuine critics. Dmitri and Dennis should develop their double act, along with correspondents from elsewhere too.
