My eyes have grown heavy and my sight is dim. I’ll have to stop for the night.
If you have the stamina or time zone, comment on this pivotal game in Group B, where Pakistan need to get a wiggle on, or Zimbabwe could really get in the 3rd/4th place mix-up.
Have not watched the game, but:
Pakistan elected to bat first, and they dropped Younis Khan. Who simply had not performed at all in ODIs. Both openers went cheaply again, but Misbah played anchor and topscored with 73 from 121. No massive partnerships were formed (highest of 69 for the 4th wicket), Afridi bagged a duck, and it was left to Wahab Riaz to get the score to 235/7.
None of the main bowlers went for more than 5 runs / over, which suggests that it was a decent team performance by Zim all around.
In reply Zim got to 30/2 after 10 overs, with both the openers gone to Mohammad Irfan. A lot resting on Hamilton Masakadza’s and Brendan Taylor’s shoulders. If they can build a good platform, the Zimbabwe lower middle-order may help Zim to get over the line.

Another massive no-ball missed against Zimbabwe. The next ball Mire goes, and Zim 166/6. Required run rate is under control, but the wickets are the issue. Chigumbura is injured as well. Could develop in a real nailbiter.

Or not. Ervine goes, Zimbabwe have stopped scoring, and the required runrate is rapidly climbing. That means 4 teams are realistically in the mix for 2 qualifying spots, though the odds for Zimbabwe to make it are not good.
